Discovering your Self
When Starts June 29th - Ends August 18th
Where The Gateway Building, Hailey
Meet the parts that make you who you are and drive your insecurities. Befriend them and unburden them. Find your true Self in the process.
Get to know the parts of you that make you who you are… including the ones that leave you feeling unworthy, unloved, and undervalued. Also known as shadow work, integrating the parts of us that challenge our confidence and self-esteem can also free us of the burdens that they carry from childhood.
This 8-week therapeutic intensive will include 8 individual and 8 group sessions, with a common theme of building confidence and self-esteem.
Through the lens of Internal Family Systems (IFS), participants will individually and collectively come to know the parts of their psyches that are connected to the core beliefs they have about themselves. While self-criticizing, self-doubting, appeasing others, and perfectionism can all be the manifestation of our parts protecting us from old wounds, in adulthood they can result in low confidence, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and negative beliefs.
You will learn how to befriend these parts, understand them, and separate from them in a way that allows for more compassion, calm, confidence, and courage to enter your life. In the process, you will start to discover your true Self.
“The more Self-led that you become, the less afraid you are to act in a way that’s going to actually bring more harmony”
-Dr. Richard Schwartz
“When you say, ‘A part of me feels that….’ you have already embraced the basic idea of IFS, whether or not you are aware of it”
-Jon Schwartz & Bill Brennan

IFS is a therapeutic framework created by Dr. Richard Schwartz.
The following description is taken from the IFS Institute website:
Dr. Schwartz developed Internal Family Systems (IFS) in response to clients’ descriptions of various parts within themselves. He focused on the relationships among these parts and noticed that there were systemic patterns to the way they were organized across clients. He also found that when the clients’ parts felt safe and were allowed to relax, the clients would experience spontaneously the qualities of confidence, openness, and compassion that Dr. Schwartz came to call the Self. He found that when in that state of Self, clients would know how to heal their parts.

Michele is trained in the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) through the Trauma Resource Institute. She invites clients to notice sensations in their bodies as they identify different parts, and as they begin to befriend and help the parts of their psyche that have been challenging for them. There is a strong connection between the mind, spirit, and body. Michele helps individuals track where their parts show up in their bodies/nervous systems, and help them sense into the healing process as it is taking place in real time.
-
There will be 8 individual sessions in total. They will be comprised of an initial session, 6 IFS guided sessions, and a closing session.
Your individual sessions will take place just like they would in any one-on-one therapeutic setting. Michele will sit with you for about 60 minutes every week and act as a guide as you discover your parts, welcome them, befriend them, unburden them, and integrate them.
In the IFS model, the therapist’s role is to work with their own parts to make sure that their Self energy is present with the client as they intuitively heal. The therapist remains curious and compassionate, asking questions and giving suggestions to the client as their parts and Self Energy make themselves known. It is truly a journey into the psyche that is led by a wise, compassionate, and present Self. The therapist is always one step behind the client in the journey.

Group sessions will take place every week on Fridays (the day after your individual session). They will last 90 minutes. The therapist will provide light snacks, tea, and water.
The purpose of the group is for members to find community in their healing journey with other individuals doing similar work in the same timeframe, utilizing the same framework, and sharing common language.

Due to scheduling conflicts, Michele will not be able to continue individual therapy with summer program clients after August 18th. There is the possibility for a continuation of the weekly group sessions, which can be discussed at the end of the program with all participants.
Michele will give out local referrals and other resources for participants wanting to continue therapeutic work after the end of the program.
